Arc segment magnets are also known as curved magnets, segmented permanent magnets, motor ferrite segments, with different names used by different customers, yet they refer to the same product. They are mainly applied in motors, bonded to the inner surface of motor housings with adhesive.
Many customers have raised the question: Which sides are the N pole and S pole of arc segment magnets? We will explain this in detail below.
The N and S pole surfaces of arc segment magnets depend mainly on the magnetizing method customized by customers. Most motor clients require paired magnetization for arc segment magnets: two magnets form a pair. One magnet has the N pole on its outer arc surface and the S pole on the inner arc surface, while the other one features the S pole on the outer arc surface and the N pole on the inner arc surface.
Manufacturers usually mark lines on the magnets with white marker pens to help customers quickly distinguish N poles from S poles and avoid assembly mistakes.
For arc segment magnets without N/S pole markings, you can test them directly with a gauss meter if your company has one. The screen of the gauss meter will display the letter N or S, making the test extremely simple.
The above is all relevant information about identifying the N and S pole surfaces of arc segment magnets. Please feel free to contact us via shirley@gaumumagnet.com if you have any further questions.
